Purpose for One to Journal?
Why does one have to journal? Here is the the nuts and bolts regarding the need to journal. When you journal you are making an effort to understand the messages that you receive on a daily basis. Messages are sent to you via the angels or your intuition in order to help you along your journey. We all get busy and forget what happened yesterday. I am suggesting that you journal to make a time stamp on the messages, comments, or thoughts you have received along your journey. This is a great way for you to have a chronicle of the goings on of your journey so that you can refer back to them. Believe me, in the beginning I wish I had started this process much sooner. I would have more to refer back to and what a blessing to be able to remember everything that has come to this point.
Choosing a Journal
When choosing a journal, it can be best to find the one small enough to carry, yet large enough in order to journal several days on each page. A journal with printed lines helps for clarity and helps the keep your lines straight. I started to journal and have continued for approximately 2 years. I have since changed the type of journal that I use a couple of times; finding one better suited for the way in which I journal. My first journal was divided into sections so that I could go the each, when I wanted the journal on that topic. However, not all sections within a journal are created equally; hence I ran out of room in one but not the others. Since that first journal, I have found it easier the journal chronologically. This will be a great reference, in case a book might be published on the subject of your own experience; whatever that might be. There are many journals available in stores and online; each with its own design, covers, and size. You might even find that your first choice no longer serves you and your next choice is completely different but more in line with your personal style. Choose what speaks the you when purchasing. Don’t stress too much about it as you will learn what feels the best soon enough. You can change the type on the next journal.
How to Begin to Journal
In the beginning, by actually finding out that I didn’t have much to journal was disappointing to say the least. I began to understand that it wasn’t about waiting to hear something or know something in order to journal. The journal writing process starts by just sitting down each day and writing what you are feeling, hearing, seeing, thinking or experiencing. It’s a beginning, it will help you to understand the process of just being in the moment, and to grow into knowing the inner you – the best you. In my situation, I found it to be frustrating at first, but grew into a greater learning of self. The more I poured my heart out on those pages, the more the feelings and thoughts of each day became more meaningful. I became grateful for the time I spent doing this each day. I found that the more I wrote in my journal, the more blessings came to me in messages, in seeing, knowing, and experiencing what it was to be alive. This process is different for everyone. Don’t become frustrated with what you write if it is only a sentence or a paragraph. Just write what comes to your mind at that moment. Each day presents a new thought, a dream, or wish that you will have the opportunity to engage with, learn from, or be in the moment with the experience. This process of thinking, feeling, and being in the moment is actually what it is all about. There might be new ideas you might want to implement within your daily life. Maybe you will write about a hurt you felt from another on that day. When you journal write this can be a process of healing that could help you deal with things on a daily basis. When journal writing you may write paragraphs, sentences, lists if that’s what comes to you. Remember, your journal is your process and there are no wrong ways to achieve this gift of understanding self.
Don’t Sweat It
When you are writing in your journal, don’t be concerned with your neatness. You will not be asked to turn in your journal to any in order for them to correct it or grade it. Just try to write your thoughts as they come to you. Give this process five minutes in the beginning. You might sit to journal and nothing happens. If it happens, try doing it at a different time of day the next time you try. Believe me, I made plenty of restarts and mistakes while trying to journal in the beginning.
Personally, I find it easier to start my entries with the date. I may state if it was a dream, a thought or occurrence; and then I allow myself to relax and let things come in naturally. To begin to journal write, sit quietly for a moment, all that comes to mind without thought of it, whether if it makes sense or not while doing so, just begin to write what you hear or feel. Again, this is up to you in every way. You are the creator of your journal writing style. Just try your best to write each day and to write where you can read it later. If you honestly cannot figure out what to write; my suggestion would be write what you are grateful for that day, even if it is only one small thing, that works. You will find that with practice this will come easier for you and you will be grateful for doing so.
Journal Blessings
Since the beginning of my first journal, my entries started with my sorrows and confusion of where my life was at that moment. It began changing along the way and started to show of the changes in my life. I didn’t actually know what was happening until later. I actually found out that this was the beginning of my enlightenment process. I am not a Guru or spiritual teacher but a regular person experiencing life. My journal writing became the stepping stones of guidance, teachings, and dreams. Things were clearer in order to know what would take place around me and what my purpose was in life. Messages were received within dreams and thoughts; that when read were making sense to me. Messages guided me to things that made me grateful for the changes in my life Dreams became movies in a sense, showing outcomes in order for me to pay attention to my thoughts, my heart and the angels; while living my best life. By practicing to journal each day, you will be excited when you are able to see your growth with this process.
Conclusion
Journal writing is an outlet for the beginning of new ideas and concepts; a healing tool for your soul and a teacher for learning of your true self. By using this tool, you are giving yourself the opportunity to create your best life for yourself. You can learn so much about yourself with just a few moments of living within the moment in this time in your life today. Choose to grow in love, light and gratitude; you will find it to be well worth the effort.
Love and Light
This is a nice piece on journaling, and I really like your observations. I’ve journaled off an on over the years, but I was never able to make it a habit for some reason. I’d get too busy and forget, and then I’d get away from it.
Your advice is good, and this could become a daily habit again for me.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you Steve. I hope this sparked a moment for you to begin again. I would maybe suggest to stop just before bed and write what your day was like or how you are feeling at the very moment. I actually leave mine on my nightstand so that I see it before bed, helps to remember to do it. Good luck on starting again!
